Allah Ta’ala say’s in the Holy Qur’an, “This is Allah, your Lord, none is to be worshipped except He, the Maker of everything, then worship Him, He is Guardian over everything.” (Surah An’aam, verse 102)

Hazrat Umar bin Khattab radiallaho ta’ala anhu reports that one day we were present in the court of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Suddenly a person came whose clothes were very white and clean and he had jet-black hair. There were no signs of travel on him and none of us recognised him. Finally he sat close to Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam; he joined his knees with the blessed knees of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam and placed his hands on the thighs of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Then he said, “O Muhammad (sallalaho alaihe wasallam), tell me about Islam?”

The Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, “Islam is that you testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallalaho alaihe wasallam is His Prophet. Also to establish prayers, pay zakat, fast in the month of Ramadhan, and perform pilgrimage if you are able to afford it.”

The stranger replied, “You have spoken the truth.” (The narrators comment) We were amazed that he is asking the question
and then affirming its accuracy. The stranger then asked, “Tell me about faith (Iman)?” Rasool
said, “(Faith is) to believe in Allah Ta’ala, His angels, His Divine revelations, His Prophets, on the day of judgement, and to believe in all good and bad destiny.” The stranger said, “You have spoken the truth.”
He then asked, “Tell me about Ehsaan?” Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, “(Ehsaan is) to worship Allah Ta’ala as though you are looking at Him, if you are unable to see Him, know that He is watching you.” (Muslim Shareef)

My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam’s beloved devotees! In commenting on the previous Hadith Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlvi Rehmatullah Ta’ala alaihe states that, “Islam is the name of the actions that are visible, (praying namaz, fasting in Ramadhan, paying zakat etc). Imam (faith) is the beliefs that we cannot see (believing in Allah Ta’ala and His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam). The combination of Islam & Iman is the religion.

Faith In Allah Ta’ala and its Essential Aspects

My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam’s beloved devotees! After believing in Allah Ta’ala, it is essential to obey all His commands and orders. Also to drown yourself in the love and devotion of His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam and be punctual and firm in following the laws that he brought. This will lead to a person gaining the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala.

Allah Ta’ala and His Sifaat (Qualities)

Belief- Allah Ta’ala is One, Pure and without comparison, He has no defects. He is the embodiment of all that is excellent. He is from forever and will be forever; everything else was not present and only came into being when He created it. He is not dependent on anyone; rather all are dependent on Him. He is the owner of all and can do as He pleases. Not even a leaf can move without His order. We are all His slaves and He is more Beneficent and Merciful on His bondmen than parents are on their children. He is the forgiver, the acceptor of repentance. Respect and disgrace, wealth and treasures are all in His control.

Belief- Guidance and misguidance is from Him alone. Whomever He wishes to guide is given guidance and He leads astray those that He pleases. All His work is fair and wise, whether we understand it or not. The favours of the Lord on his bondmen is beyond comprehension.

Belief- Only Allah Ta’ala is worthy of being worshipped. No one else is worthy of being worshipped.

Belief- Allah Ta’ala is the true Ruler and He is the Wise One. Nothing is outside His knowledge. He knows about the fears and temptations that are in our hearts. There is no limit to His knowledge

Belief- Allah Ta’ala can do whatever He wants, however He wants to do it. No one has any influence on Him. Neither is there anyone that can stop Him from His intentions. He is pleased by His bondmen’s good deeds and displeased by their bad deeds.

Belief- He is the true provider of sustenance, wealth, children and all requirements. Angels etc are a means through which He provides all these things.

Belief- It is impossible to associate any faults with Allah Ta’ala, like lying, ignorance, forgetting, injustice etc. He is free from all faults and imperfections. Those that believe that Allah can lie, but chooses not to, are misguided because they believe that Allah Ta’ala has faults (lying) but is hiding his faults. (Ma’azAllah)

Faith regarding Prophets

Messenger - Prophet means one that brings the message from Allah Ta’ala to His bondmen.
Prophet- The person that receives revelation (wahi) from Allah Ta’ala and shows people the way to Allah Ta’ala. Faith- Many Prophets and angels were messengers. All Prophets were male. No Jinns or females were Prophets.

Faith- Prophets and messengers are chosen by the Beneficence of Allah Ta’ala. A person's efforts do not lead to this. Allah Ta’ala makes those people Prophets whom He created for this duty.

Faith- Prophets and Messengers stay away from bad acts and deeds from the beginning. They do not have any qualities in them that would make people hate them.

Faith- All Prophets are sinless. They are not able to commit any sins.

Faith- It is not possible for the Prophets to make any mistakes in delivering the message of Allah Ta’ala to His bondmen. Faith- It is false and wrong to believe any other person (an Imam or a pious person) to be sinless except for Prophets.

Even though imam’s and friends of Allah (Wali Allah) do not commit sins, it is not impossible for them to commit a sin.

Faith- The best of Allah Ta’ala’s creations are the Prophets.

Faith- No matter how exalted a friend of Allah is, he cannot compare to a Prophet. If a person claims that a friend of Allah is equal to or better than a Prophet, he is wrong and misguided.

Faith- Respect of Prophets is compulsory; rather it is foundation of all deeds. The slightest disrespect of a Prophet is infidelity.

Faith- All Prophets are alive in their grave just like they were alive in the world. To fulfil the promise of Allah Ta’ala that “Every Living Being Shall Taste Death”, they are given death for a moment. Then Allah Ta’ala gives them life with His Power. Their lives are much more exalted than the lives of martyrs.

Faith- Allah Ta’ala has given knowledge of the unseen to His Prophets. Their knowledge of the unseen is granted and Allah Ta’ala’s knowledge of the unseen is His own, not given to Him by anyone. Therefore His knowledge is His own. To believe in knowledge of the unseen for Prophets is not associating (shirk), rather it is faith (Iman). This is evident from many verses of the Qur’an and the Hadith of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam.

Faith- Allah Ta’ala created Our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam from His brilliant light (noor) before He created anything else. Other Prophets, angels, heaven and earth, the seven heavens and the Throne, the whole universe was created from the Noor of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Allah Ta’ala made our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam the embodiment of all excellence after Himself. Allah Ta’ala has given the keys to all His treasures to His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Allah Ta’ala is the owner of all the bounties in this world and the world hereafter and Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam is the distributor.

Faith- Allah Ta’ala granted Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam the ascension (Me’raj) whilst he was awake and aware. He called him to the heavens and gifted him the great blessing of seeing His Lord. He spoke to him and showed him paradise, hellfire, the heavens and the Throne. On the day of judgement Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam will be the first person to intercede on behalf of the ummah, will intercede to have the ummah’s sins forgiven and their status to be raised. There are many more special qualities, the details of which are available in the books of the scholars of Ahle Sunnah Wa’al jam’at.

Faith- Allah Ta’ala revealed books and pages for the guidance of his slaves. Hazrat Musa (Moses) alaihis salaam received the Old Testament (Taurah). Hazrat Daud (David) alaihis salaam received the Psalms (Zaboor). Hazrat Isa (Jesus) alaihis salaam received the Bible (Injeel). Many other Prophets received other books or certain pages. The nations of these Prophets added or removed certain verses from those books, and changed the order of Allah Ta’ala. Finally Allah Ta’ala revealed the Holy Qur’an to our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. It contains the knowledge of everything. The Qur’an is the same today as it was when it was revealed, and will forever stay the same. It is essential on all to have faith in the Qur’an. There will be no new Prophet and no new book. Those that hold a different view to this are not believers.

Faith- Angels are a creation of light (Noor). Allah Ta’ala has given them the power to change form. Angels do not do anything against the commands of Allah Ta’ala, knowingly or unknowingly. That is why angels are sinless. Allah Ta’ala has assigned many duties to the angels. Some angels remove the souls from people, some make it rain, some form the face of a child in the mother’s womb, and some write the actions of people etc.

Faith- Angels are neither male nor female; rather they are a creation of light (Noor). To deny angels or to believe that they can sin is also misguidance. One who holds such beliefs is not a believer.

Faith- Death is a reality and will come. Each person’s life is pre destined; it cannot be lengthened or shortened. When the time for death arrives, Hazrat Izraeel alaihis salaam (who is the angel of death) comes and removes the person’s soul and takes it away. However the soul does not die when it leaves the body, rather it lives in “Aalam E Barzakh.” There are different places where the souls stay depending on faith and actions during one’s life on the earth. The souls will stay there until the day of judgement. Wherever the soul is, it still has some kind of connection with the body and difficulties incurred by the body are felt by the soul. Peace for the body also results in peace for the soul. It recognises those that come to the grave and listens to their speech as well. It is reported in Hadith that a Muslim’s soul is set free once the person dies, and the soul can go where it pleases. Hazrat Shah Abdul Aziz Dehlvi states that “No place is too far or near for the souls, it is all the same.”

Questions For The Deceased

Faith- Munkar and Nakeer are two angels who ask the deceased three questions in a very harsh and frightening tone. (1) Who is your Lord? (2) What is your religion? (3) What did you use to say about this person? If the deceased died as a Muslim he will answer “My Lord is Allah” to the first question. He will say “My religion is Islam” for the second question. Then he will say “This is the Prophet of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be on him.” When the deceased gives the correct answers, Allah Ta’ala will order the angels to arrange paradise for him in his grave and he will stay there until the day of judgement. If the deceased is a non-believer he will not be able to give the answers. He will say “Alas! Alas! I do not know.” Angels will begin to punish this person and this will continue until the day of judgement.

Faith- Questions and punishment will affect both the body and the soul. If he was burnt, or left somewhere, or the body thrown away, he will be questioned there. Even if a lion ate someone, they will be questioned in the stomach of the lion and punishment will be given wherever they happen to be.

Faith- Peace or difficulty in the grave is a fact. One who denies this is misguided.

Faith- Prophets are not questioned in the grave and some of their followers are also not questioned. For example, those Muslim’s that die on Friday or those that die in Ramadhan.
Faith- The soil is not able to eat the bodies of Prophets, Friends of Allah (Wali Allah), Scholars of the religion, martyrs, Hafiz e Qur’an (one who has memorised the Qur’an) and acts on it’s teachings, the person that has never sinned, and the person who always recites durood shareef (blessings on Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam). The person that says that Prophets have “died and mingled with the dust” has no religion, is misguided and is going to be in great difficulty.

Day of Judgement and its Signs

Faith- One day the world and everything on it will be destroyed. Nothing will remain except Allah Ta’ala; this is called the day of judgement. There are signs that will be apparent before the day of judgement arrives. ∗Knowledge of the religion will be removed from the world, meaning scholars will leave the world. ∗Widespread ignorance will prevail. ∗Alcohol and adultery will be common. ∗Men will listen to their wives and stay away from their parents. ∗There will be much music and singing. ∗People will curse the generations that came before them. ∗Wretched and unqualified people will be made leaders. ∗Trying to stay firm on the religion will be as difficult as picking up fire with your hands. ∗There will be no blessing in time, meaning time will pass very quickly. ∗Wild beasts, animals will talk to

humans. ∗The sun will rise from the west. When this sign is made apparent, the doors of repentance (taubah) will be closed. It will not be possible to accept Islam after that time.
Allah O Akbar! Apart from these signs, the Anti -Christ (Dajjal) will also appear. 30 other dajjals will come who all will claim to be a Prophet, even though the door of Prophethood has been closed. Our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam is the final prophet until the day of judgement. Many of the false impostors have already appeared like Musailmah Kazzab, Taliha Bin Khawlid, Sajjah, Aswad Ansi, Mirza Ali Muhammad Baab, Mirza Ali Hussain Baha’Ullah, and Mirza Gulam Ahmad Qadiyani etc. Those that are left will definitely come and claim prophethood.
